In one sentence: Blackstart asks for no account, collects no name and no address, and your game lives in your browser. An anonymous usage measurement exists — it is off until you say yes, and one click turns it back off.
This page covers everything else, including what is measured without asking you, because some things are.
1. Who is responsible
The data controller is:
- DM CONSULTING, a French limited liability company (SARL) with a share capital of €100;
- company number (SIREN) 889 957 643;
- registered office: 78 avenue des Champs-Élysées, office 326, 75008 Paris, France;
- contact: contact@blackstartgame.com.
2. What stays on your machine
The game writes to your browser's local storage. None of it is sent anywhere: it is the equivalent of a save file, and it does not leave your device.
| Key | What it is for |
|---|---|
reseau-partie-*, reseau-index | Your saved games and their list. |
reseau-langue | The language you chose. |
reseau-son, reseau-conduite | Your sound and control settings. |
reseau-changelog-vu | The changelog version already read, so it is not reopened. |
reseau-telemetrie | The local usage log, readable and exportable from the home screen. |
reseau-consentement | Your answer to the sharing question: yes or no. |
These writes are strictly necessary for the game to work: without them, reloading the page would lose your game. They therefore require no consent. Clearing the site data from your browser erases them all — including your saved games.
3. Usage sharing — only if you say yes
A notice asks you, once, whether you agree to share anonymous gameplay statistics. Until you answer yes, nothing is sent. Not answering does not count as agreement.
What is sent
- the kind of event: an action (a command you used), a milestone (progress), or a trial (a difficulty you ran into);
- its key — a stable word such as
coupler,blackout,annee_bouclee; - the region played and the tier reached;
- the simulated moment within the game;
- an optional detail: a machine name, or an in-game incident message truncated to 80 characters;
- two randomly drawn identifiers: one distinguishes two playthroughs, the other groups a session; the second disappears when the tab is closed.
What is never sent
No name, no email address, no account, no browser fingerprint. The identifiers are random draws generated on your machine: they are tied to no person, and cannot be used to find you elsewhere.
Legal basis, and how to change your mind
This processing rests on your consent (GDPR, art. 6.1.a). You may withdraw it at any time, with no justification: on the game's home screen, open "Usage analytics" and click "Withdraw my permission". Sending stops immediately. Withdrawal does not affect what was already transmitted.
4. What is measured without asking you
In fairness, these two exist too. They fall outside the game's consent notice.
- Vercel Web Analytics. The site's host counts page views. According to its publisher, this measurement is cookieless and does not identify visitors individually.
- Hosting logs. Like any web server, the one serving this page technically records incoming requests, IP address included, for security and for the service to work.
The typefaces, by contrast, are served from this domain and not by a third party: viewing this page signals your visit to no one else.
5. Who processes the data, and where
| Processor | Role | Location |
|---|---|---|
| PostHog | Gameplay usage measurement, under consent | European instance |
| Vercel | Hosting of the site and the game, page-view measurement | See Vercel's terms |
Gameplay statistics are sent to PostHog's European instance, and travel through this site's own domain.
6. For how long
Gameplay events are kept for twelve months, then deleted. That covers a full yearly cycle — enough to compare a release against the one a year earlier — without keeping more than serves a purpose.
7. Your rights
The GDPR gives you rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction and objection over data concerning you, as well as the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority — in France, the CNIL.
One limit, stated plainly: because the gameplay statistics are anonymous by design, the publisher has no way to link an event to a person. It can therefore neither show you "your" data nor erase it selectively, having no means of recognising it (GDPR, art. 11). What you do keep, at all times, is control over the two things that matter: turning sending off, and erasing the local log from the "Usage analytics" panel.

9. If this page changes
Any change will be published here, with its date. A change that widened what is collected would trigger a fresh request for consent — a yes given today covers only what is described today.
